Silk Threads. Filande and Dye Works The filanda is the silk complex where, before moving on to the spinning mill, the reeling operations take place, which consist of unwinding the thread from the silkworm cocoon and wrapping it into skeins. To carry out these operations, it is necessary to immerse the cocoons in hot water, find the ends of the threads (scopinatura), and then, through various stages, obtain the skein of raw silk. After passing through the spinning mill, the silk could be sold raw or dyed. The dye works of Rovereto were a true excellence appreciated throughout Europe. Silk Threads.
