“Union des femmes” is dedicated to the women of the Paris Commune of 1871 and their commitment to the conquest of rights and dignity. “Union des femmes” is a work signed LPA because it was made four-handed by my wife Lia and me. Reproductions of period photographs by Eugène Appert were used. The four images, from left to right, portray Désirée Dumont, Elisabeth (or Isabelle) Retiffe, Eugénie Robit, and Josephine Marchais. Mixed media: cardboard, photographs, bandages, and beeswax on wooden board. The dimensions are 25.5 x 50.5 x 3.5 cm. The technique used is photographic encaustic.
