"Le temps de cerises" (The Time of Cherries) is a new series of collaborative works by myself and Lia, dedicated to the women and men of the Paris Commune, 1871, and their attempt to reach for the sky. This first piece is titled “Quand nous chanterons” and is a mixed media work made with photographs, bandages, and beeswax on wooden panels. The dimensions are 45.5 x 60 cm. The technique used is photographic encaustic. The work uses: a period photograph, by an unknown author, of the barricade at la Chaussée Ménilmontant, March 18, 1871 during the Paris Commune; a poster from the Ministry of War of the Paris Commune; the emblem of the Paris National Guard; the musical score of “Quand nous chanterons le temps des cerises.”
