The problem of municipal schools

The Paris Commune. Wednesday, April 26, 1871. The Commune expanded and made education compulsory for all children and young people and made schools secular. Many teachers, especially those who were clerical, effectively abandoned teaching. At this point, the Commune and the neighborhoods had to find other teachers and other classrooms for the schools.
