The Paris Commune. Tuesday, April 11, 1871. Today at the Père-Laschaise cemetery* there was the burial of seventy-five people. Most of them are difficult to identify and therefore are buried in a "tranchée gratuite," in other words: a mass grave. These are the dead caused by the attacks from Versailles against the Commune and those from the unfortunate sorties of the National Guard against government troops in recent days. *In 150 years it will be the largest cemetery in Paris "intramuros" and one of the most famous in the world, welcoming over three and a half million visitors.
