The Paris Commune. Sunday, April 2, 1871. Today there are three main events. The Commune decides on the separation of Church and State and the abolition of funding for worship. The manifesto is printed with tomorrow's date, April 3, the day the decree is displayed. The Commune decides that the maximum salary for state officials is 6,000 francs per year and holding multiple positions is prohibited. Armed clashes begin. Attack by Versailles at Courbevoie. Supported by artillery fire, the Versailles troops, superior in number, occupy Courbevoie and force the Federates to retreat, leaving twelve dead and wounded on the field. Among them are five who are immediately shot by the Versailles soldiers at the foot of Mont-Valérien.
