The Paris Commune. Sunday, March 26, 1871. Today in Paris is a clear day with warm sunshine and it is the day of the municipal elections. Elections, in truth, delayed by several days compared to the original idea: on the one hand due to the reluctance of the mayors of the various arrondissements (the districts, each with a mayor at its head), especially those of the bourgeoisie, on the other due to the hesitations of the Central Committee of the National Guard, which had the strength and power not to waste time. Meanwhile, in Versailles, the national government is reorganizing its army. In Paris, people are voting in a festive atmosphere.
