The Paris Commune. Tuesday, March 21, 1871.

. The “Amis de l’Ordre” take to the streets and demonstrate today – “Friends of Order”, under this name are grouped the Parisians hostile to the Paris Commune -. In another part of the city, the government army retakes possession of the fortress located on Mont-Valérien, after the Prussian troops have left. This fort is about two kilometers from Paris and is part of the first defensive belt made up of sixteen fortresses. While the third belt is about 20 km from the capital, the first belt is right around the city. The Prussians had broken through and occupied part of the city, bombarding it to wear down the population and the National Guard who were resisting the siege.
